With Olive Garden Leaving Brainerd-Baxter, What Should Replace It?

With the news of Olive Garden in Baxter closing this weekend, it raises the question… what goes there now?

So many different choices to ponder. If we are using the guidelines of the building staying and another business just taking over the large space, one can toss out the obvious choice…

  • Red Lobster… Until 5 years ago, it wouldn’t have even been a thought since at that point Olive Garden and Red Lobster were owned by the same company. Back in 2014, Red Lobster was sold off for a cool 2.1 billion. But now that they aren’t owned by the same company… Cheddar bay biscuits anyone?
  • Five Guys Burgers & Fries… Okay, the building might be too big for a 5 Guys, but it would be something the area doesn’t have.
  • I-Hop… I hop(e) not. The St. Cloud one is still open but I think I see dust on the door handles every time I drive by.
  • Chick-Fil-A… I smell what they’re cookin’… Just bring it!

Let’s be realistic here, the best odds are that the building sadly sits empty for a chuck of time due to what one can imagine is a hefty price tag for that piece of land. Then it will get knocked down and replaced by a bank or maybe a gas station.

What do yo think should go in there?
