President Donald Trump is scheduled to visit Bemidji this week.
According to his campaign website, the President will be at Bemidji Aviation Services around 6 p.m. for a “Great American Comeback” event, with the doors opening at 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 18.
The original time was set for 4 p.m. with doors open at 1 p.m. This plan changed on Monday, Sept. 14. View Chief Mastin’s statement on the upcoming visit here.
A sitting president has never visited Bemidji before, and Bemidji hasn’t been on the campaign trail to the White House since at least the 1980s.
A counter-protest is already planned for that day in the area.
Former Vice President and Democratic nominee Joe Biden is scheduled to also make a campaign stop in Minnesota on Sept. 18, though a location and time have not yet been announced for that visit.
The latest SurveyUSA poll showed Biden with a 49-to-40 percent lead over Trump in the state. But the Republican ticket had a 61-to-37 advantage in northeastern Minnesota. Biden led by 19 points in the Twin Cities.
