If you saw a Medi-Van driving recklessly through Downtown Brainerd yesterday afternoon, we now know why.

According to the Brainerd Dispatch, a man who was an emergency room patient ended up stealing an unattended medical van from the Essentia Health-St. Joseph Medical Center on Tuesday, October 30th around 2:45 p.m. The man stole the Medi-Van parked in the hospital parking lot after staff at the hospital tried to convince him to get back into the hospital. The man, who we know is 50 years old and a Breezy Point resident, ended up striking a dumpster as he was leaving the parking lot.

After leaving the hospital, the man drove the Medi-Van with reckless abandon through downtown Brainerd. Eventually police caught up with the van on the 500 block of Maple Street. The man tried to get away on foot and ended up getting hit with the stun gun and was sent to Crow Wing County Jail.
