‘Old Town Road’ by Lil Nas X was taken off Billboard country charts recently and now Billy Ray Cyrus has been added to the remix of the song.
Lil Nas X released ‘Old Town Road’ back in December. It has embroidered with controversy lately, being taken off Billboard country charts. Rolling Stone was given a statement that said:
Upon further review, it was determined that ‘Old Town Road’ by Lil Nas X does not currently merit inclusion on Billboard‘s country charts. When determining genres, a few factors are examined, but first and foremost is musical composition. While ‘Old Town Road’ incorporates references to country and cowboy imagery, it does not embrace enough elements of today’s country music to chart in its current version.
It got so much attention that on Wednesday night, Billy Ray Cyrus tweeted at Lil Nas X.
.@LilNasX Been watching everything going on with OTR. When I got thrown off the charts, Waylon Jennings said to me “Take this as a compliment” means you’re doing something great! Only Outlaws are outlawed. Welcome to the club!

So what do you know happened next? Cyrus hopped on and the two released a remix of the song Friday morning. It’s even currently the number one trending video on YouTube. I can’t decide if I would call it country music, but what I do know is I find it catchy.
