Sweet wedding bells rang on Saturday, February 23rd as Jenny Ries and Craig Hirschey said their “I do’s” at Zion Lutheran Church in Brainerd. Sure, the spelling police will point out the obvious, but when all the Hirschey & Ries’ pieces came together to celebrate at the NP Event Space on Saturday, there was over 750 pounds of candy provided by Hershey for the guests to snack on. Wedding guest Tommy Olsen said, “It was awesome, definitely added a lbs to the belly after Saturday night…pretty cool to see that.”

I hope there was a dentist attending the festivities savvy enough to scatter some business cards around the massive candy buffet…

Reached during their honeymoon in Hawaii, Jenny Hirschey shared, “Guests were going crazy for the candy bar! People were loading up all night. We had staff from our caterers Prairie Bay as well as Hershey Company staff restocking the bar all night…  It was so fun for us to have our family and friends engage in the Hershey / Reese connection as Craig and I have been doing the last few months.”

When asked why they chose the Brainerd for their wedding Hirschey stated,”We love the Brainerd lakes area. The Hirschey family has close to 10 cabins on Lower Cullen. This 4th of July we will be celebrating 100 years of Hirschey on Lower Cullen. So needless to say, the Brainerd/Nisswa area holds a special place in our heart. And we embrace Minnesota winters and wanted our family and friends to experience it all!”

The Hershey Company went above and beyond sending not only candy for the big day, but also plenty of gear for guests. “Our welcome bags were equipped with Hershey and Reese socks and hats so guests could get outside with warm ears and toes while rocking our wedding theme.”

Clearly, Hershey’s knows a good PR opportunity when they see one! They even set Craig and Jenny up with an engagement photo shoot in Pennsylvania!

When asked if she was hyphenating her name, Jenny told us “I won’t be hyphenating, I’m now Jennifer Mary Hirschey (although some days I think of dropping Mary for Ries) but TBD.”

Congrats to the sweet newlyweds!

No confirmation on what the musical entertainment was for the reception, but the bride is kicking herself that she didn’t try booking  Sugarland.
