Back when all of this pandemic stuff began in March we assumed that we would just get to move a few events to fall and likely get back to it then. I was especially looking forward to my position as the Community Ambassador for Good Sam Bowl in May. It was quickly postponed with the intention of it making its way to September or October. It has become apparent that it just won’t be allowed to happen in 2020.
So the announcement was made today that the Annual Good Samaritan Bowl for 2020 is officially cancelled in a press release issued today (Monday 7/27/2020):
“For the health and well-being of the Brainerd community, the Good Samaritan Society has decided to cancel the Good Samaritan Bowl in Brainerd, M.N.
This annual fundraiser was originally scheduled for May 3 and 4, 2020 and had been postponed.
The Good Samaritan Bowl has provided critical support for the well-being of Brainerd area seniors for 16 years. The Society is asking that community members consider making a gift to the Good Samaritan Bowl fund, which will help residents at the Bethany and Woodland locations to live everyday more fully. To make a gift, please visit the secure online giving page at good-sam.com/goodsambowl.
Thank you to our bowlers, sponsors, and community members for your understanding and support.
For questions, please contact Sheena Ziegler at sziegle1@good-sam.com or (218) 8252505 or (218) 330-4302.”
This Winter I had the opportunity to talk with many civic groups about this friend (fund) raising event and how it makes our community better for people in the care centers of Good Sam Society. The money raised at this event would go to making lives better at both Bethany and Woodland as well as Pine River facilities. I would ask that if you would have been a participant or contributor to this year’s Good-Sam Bowl that you would also consider making that donation anyway, even though we don’t get to bowl it out.
Thank you,
Bill Satre
2020-21 Good-Sam Bowl Community Ambassador
