Every summer, our small towns set aside a weekend to have a big festival. They provide an opportunity for everyone in the community to get together and do some fun things. We look forward to these small town festivals and it’s that time of year again in Deerwood. The 32nd Annual Deerwood Summerfest is this Friday and Saturday (August 9th and 10th).
The entire family will have a great time! There is something for each and every age group from music, food and crafts. There are over 100 exhibitors lining the streets and some of the parking lots. Everywhere you turn in Deerwood will be something going on. The kids play area at the City Playground is where they will find the NEW splash pad! Churches and civic groups will offer homemade food and refreshments. You will find raffles and prizes plus an auction with items online. Summerfest memorabilia is available and there are many rummage sales again this year.

Activities like the Community Leader Dunk tank and the Deerwood Fire 5K and 10K Run/Walk on Saturday are Summerfest fan favorites.

There are a couple new activities this year. The Dog Days of Summer Dog Costume Contest is the Doggie Parade on Saturday at 10. That is followed by a kids pedal tractor pull from 11 to 2. Also new this year is the bean bag tournament at the Deerwood Legion.

The Deerwood Summerfest is presented by the Deerwood Civic and Commerce and sponsored by many Deerwood Area businesses. For a closer look at what is happening this weekend there official website is www.DeerwoodCommerce.org They are also on Facebook.
In conjunction with Summerfest in Deerwood there will be live music. King’s Ransom will play at Coaches Street Dance and there will be three Blues musicians playing at Ruttgers Bay Lake Lodge’s Blues-BBQ-Bash.
A couple of the organizers from the Summerfest joined us on the Morning Show with Wild Bill Satre Thursday after 8. Here are the two parts of that conversation as it ran on the radio on B93.3:
