Celebrating Veterans in the Brainerd Lakes

Pequot Lakes School District invites the public to a Veteran’s Day Assembly the morning of Fri. Nov. 10th at 9:00 in the PLHS Athletic Center (on the south end of the school).  The event will honor our veterans during this one-hour assembly.  If you have questions, contact the Pequot Lakes High School office.

Brainerd High School will host a Veteran’s Day Assembly in the gymnasium on Friday, November 10th from 10-11 am. Grades 9-12 will attend and the event will feature the choir, band and orchestra. Combat veteran Col. Charles Chip rangen will be the guest speaker and ten Quilts of Honor will be presented to WWII and Korean war Veterans. the public is invited to attend.

The Brainerd Honor Guard invites the public to the All Veterans Memorial at 4th and Laurel Street in Brainerd on Veteran’s Day, Sat. Nov. 11 for a salute to veterans. There will be three rifle volley anbdTAPS heard downtown at 11:11 am.

The Legacy Chorale of Greater Minnesota invites the public to “Lift Every Voice and Sing” – a special Veterans Day performance by the Legacy Youth Choirs and Youth Festival Choir – on Sat. Nov. 11th at the Gichi-ziibi Center for the Arts in Brainerd starting at 1:00, doors will open at 12:30. Admission is free. Please reserve seats in advance online at LegacyChorale.org.

The Brainerd American Legion will host a Veterans Day Picnic for veterans on Sat. Nov. 11th from 11:00-1:00.  Veterans (must show Military I.D.) will enjoy FREE broasted chicken and salad bar.  If you show your Legion Membership Card, enjoy 1 free domestic tap beer from 12:00-5:00.

The Garrison VFW will host a Spaghetti Dinner in honor of All Veterans on Sat. Nov. 11th from 4:00-8:00 and the cost is just $10.  The dinner includes spaghetti and meatballs, coleslaw, bread stick and dessert.  All are also invited to a luminary service honoring veterans at 5:30, a flag retirement ceremony and to participate in the one-day-only silent auction. Purchase tickets for the dinner at the Garrison VFW.

Also, for our veterans there are great deals and opportunities just for you this weekend. Here is a list of generous deals for vets:

  • Texas Roadhouse — At participating locations, active-duty military and veterans can dine in or receive a meal voucher on November 11 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with a form of military ID. These vouchers are good for dine in or carry out at a later time. The voucher is good until May 30, 2024. If you choose to dine in on November 11, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m, there will be a specific menu to select from.
  • Applebee’s — On November 11, active-duty military, veterans, reserves and National Guard that dine in-restaurant get a complimentary full-size entrée from a special menu. They will also receive a $5 Bounce Back Card to redeem for dine-in, To Go, or delivery within a three-week redemption window.
  • Buffalo Wild Wings — Veterans and active-duty service members get a free order of 10 Boneless Wings and Fries on November 11 with valid ID. Only available for dine-in. Buffalo Wild Wings GO locations will be included for walk-in/order at the counter only.
  • Caribou Coffee — Veterans, active-duty military members and their spouses with a valid ID receive a Small Hot Brewed Coffee of the Day or Cold Press, excluding nitro on November 11.
  • Casey’s General Stores — Casey’s is offering any size complimentary coffee or fountain drink to all veterans on November 11.
  • IHOP — Veterans and active-duty military get free Red, White, & Blueberry Pancakes or Pancake Combo on November 11 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Dine-in only, at participating restaurants.
  • Insomnia Cookies — Veterans and active-duty military get a free 6-pack of Classic cookies with any purchase until November 13 at 3 a.m. PST. Excludes all online pick-up/delivery orders and nationwide shipping orders.
  • Green Mill Restaurant and Bar — On November 11, veterans and active-duty military can choose a free item from a select menu with proof of service. Dine-in only.
  • Little Caesars — Veterans and active-duty military get a free Lunch Combo at participating stores on November 11, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. In-store only.
  • Red Robin – Veterans and active-duty military get a complimentary Red’s Big Tavern Burger on November 11 with valid ID. Dine-in only, not valid for online or to-go orders. The free meal also comes with an endless side of steak fries.
  • Wendy’s — Active-duty military and veterans get a free breakfast combo on November 11 at participating locations during breakfast hours with valid ID.
