After an 11-year run hosting the CMA awards, Brad Paisley will not be hosting a 12th consecutive year.

Carrie Underwood will be back as co-host, but for the first time since 2008, Brad Paisley will not share the stage with her… at least as a co-host. Underwood will be joined by Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton as special guest hosts.  McEntire is a veteran host at both the ACM and CMA Awards, and Dolly has hosted her fair share of shows as well. The CMA Awards will be celebrating the iconic women of country music throughout the show.

I’d place good money that Paisley will still appear in the opening monologue at some point and would venture to guess this is a one-off and that Paisley and Underwood will re-unite as co-hosts next year.

Nominees for the 2019 CMA Awards will be announced on August 28th. The CMA Awards air on ABC at 7 central time on Wednesday, Nov. 13.

Underwood,  McEntire and Parton have totaled 124 CMA Awards nominations and 22  wins among them.  The ladies have 14 nominations in the Entertainer of the Year category, with Parton taking the top prize in 1978 and McEntire in 1986. With her huge tour this year, is 2019 the year Carrie Underwood claims the highest honor in country music?

I hate to see Paisley out as co-host, I grew fond of the corny jokes.
