Yet another Brainerd storefront added the dreaded words “Store Closing” to their exterior…

An employee at The Family Dollar in Brainerd hung the signs late Sunday night.

The discount chain carrying a variety of goods, including groceries, household items & beauty products is slated to close on July 13th. But an employee stated that the feeling is once the store gets below 50% inventory they may shutter the doors sooner.

An email to Family Dollar corporate went unanswered.

Dollar Tree, the parent company of Family Dollar,  said in March that  it will be closing almost 400 stores after it posted a $2.3 billion quarterly loss.

200 Family Dollars are being re-branded under the Dollar Tree name. The Brainerd area is already home to 2 Dollar Trees. There are 63 Family Dollar stores in Minnesota with the next closest store to Brainerd located in Crosby.

Currently the store is in 20% off mode with the exception of a few select items.

Once closed, it will make for a vacant parking lot as their neighboring business, Papa John’s Pizza closed their doors abruptly last year.
