A Brainerd man is accused of cutting a woman with a machete before turning the weapon on himself, according to the St. Cloud Police Department.

St. Cloud PD responded to a call at 4:34 p.m. Monday at an apartment on the 1800 block of 15th Avenue Southeast.

Police found Trevor Lee Cluever of Brainerd in the parking lot with self-inflicted knife injuries on his chest and neck. Officers found a woman who sustained injuries that were deemed non-life-threatening.

The 20 year-old Cluever was taken into custody. Cluever is suspected of coming to the apartment building to meet the victim in the lobby, pulling out a machete and striking the victim in her shoulder and wrist.

The victim ran to her apartment and locked herself inside. Cluever forced himself into the apartment and began cutting himself inside.

The victim was transported to St. Cloud Hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, while Cluever was arrested and transported to the hospital and treated for serious injuries.

He remains in police custody at the hospital and will be taken to the Sherburne County Jail on charges of burglary, assault and domestic assault when released.
