With minimal notice, one of the Brainerd Lakes Area’s favorite breakfast spots is no longer…
Kevin and Marilyn Stumpf are bidding farewell to the restaurant business and have sold Baxter Cafe. The Stumpf’s opened the restaurant in 1994 as a Country Kitchen franchise. In 2018 they re-branded with a more local feel of “Baxter Cafe & Catering”. Kevin stated he is heading into retirement and fixing his body.
With both the Country Kitchen and Baxter Cafe locals flocked to the restaurant for their breakfast offerings. As of Monday, March 20th patrons will need to pull up a chair elsewhere.
What’s next for the building? The digital signage out front displays “Ippin Ramen and Sushi Coming Soon.” There is a Japanese restaurant in Waite Park that shares the Ippin Ramen name that opened in January of this year.
